Come visit the public art on display throughout the City of Lockport this summer! Twenty-two Chicagoland artists, handpicked by the curators at Lockport’s Illinois State Museum Campus, have decorated three-foot tall, fiberglass ducks. These fun masterpieces will sit in front of the businesses and commercial plazas hit hardest by the COVID shutdowns and restrictions of the past year.
The cost of the ducks, the artists, and the accompanying advertising, came from private businesses who were able to operate with minimal disruption this past year and wanted to help their fellow entrepreneurs “stay afloat.” We are grateful for their big hearts and willingness to help both the businesses and the artists.
– Mayor Steven Streit
The ducks will be on display from through September 3rd. Pick up a printed “Passports” at City Hall, the White Oak Library, the Illinois State Museum, or any business you see with a duck, and you will find a map where all the ducks are located. Have your passports stamped by the business as you visit each duck. You will receive special offers, coupons, and a FREE collector sticker of that business’ duck as you help Keep Our Small Business Afloat!
